For the most part this season, Louisiana has been strong on both sides of the ball and has thrived.
The Ragin’ Cajuns went 10-2 during the regular season and won the Sun Belt West. They only lost to Tulane by a single possession, before defeating Wake Forest a week later, and stumbled in a two-point loss against South Alabama.
But Louisiana won’t have an easy matchup in the Sun Belt Championship on Saturday.
Marshall will take on the Ragin’ Cajuns after winning the Sun Belt East. The Thundering Herd are 9-3 overall after losses against Virginia Tech and Ohio State as well as a one-point defeat at Georgia Southern. But Marshall is now on a six-game winning streak, with its most recent victory being in double overtime at James Madison.

Marshall vs. Louisiana Prediction
I predict Louisiana will win and cover the spread at -5.5. I also project the game will go Over 56.5 total points.
I really like how well Louisiana’s offense has been playing over the past month. The Ragin’ Cajuns have scored more than 37 points in three of their last four contests and have gone over 50 points in two of their last four.
And Louisiana has continued to play well on that side of the ball after Chandler Fields took over as the team’s starting quarterback. Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year Ben Wooldridge was injured against South Alabama in mid-November.
Louisiana is also in the top 50 in the country with 22.75 points and 341.8 yards per game allowed. So the team has talent on both sides of the ball.
There’s no doubt Marshall has also played well recently. But it seems to me, no matter who’s at quarterback, Louisiana has been a little more consistent. At home, I expect the Ragin’ Cajuns will win by a touchdown.
