Memphis is still in contention to be a Group of Five team that makes the College Football Playoff. But the Tigers will likely need to keep their winning streak alive if that’s going to happen.
Memphis is 5-1 overall, including a win over Florida State, but the Tigers are 1-1 in AAC play as they lost to Navy earlier this season before beating USF in their most recent game.
This week is no easy home contest for Memphis, which will face North Texas. The Mean Green are 5-1, with their sole loss being at Texas Tech. They’ve won both of their AAC games, but they’ll certainly want to triumph this weekend if they want to have a shot of appearing in the conference championship game.

North Texas vs. Memphis Prediction
I predict Memphis will win but North Texas will cover the spread at +11.5. I also project the game will go Over 68.5 total points.
I think this game could get interesting. And if you like points, I think this game could be highly entertaining as well.
North Texas has scored more than 40 points in each of its past three games. Memphis has only done that twice this season, but with stars at the skill positions like quarterback Seth Henigan, running back Mario Anderson Jr., and wide receiver Roc Taylor, I think the Tigers will put up some points in this bout.
But I think Memphis’ defense will prove to be a little better here. The Tigers have given up more than 17 points just once all season – their loss at Navy. In their last three wins over USF, Middle Tennessee, and Florida State, Memphis has given up a combined 22 points.
I believe both offenses will thrive in the second half, and I don’t see either team winning by more than 10 points. But I think the Tigers’ defense will make a couple critical plays at home to help give them the victory.
