A season ago, South Florida hosted Alabama – and that game was much closer than many anticipated.
The Bulls lost 17-3, but it set the tone for the rest of the season. They went on to make the Boca Raton Bowl and beat Syracuse 45-0.
Now with all of that momentum, USF is regarded as one of the best Group of Five programs early in 2024. The Bulls hope that doesn’t change after they again take on Alabama, which is ranked No. 4 in the AP Top 25 and has aspirations of getting back to the College Football Playoff.

The game will kick off at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 7. The contest is taking place at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

USF vs. Alabama Prediction
I predict Alabama will win but USF will cover the spread at +32.5. I also project the game will go Under 63.5 total points.
I almost want to pick USF in this game. This is Alabama’s first season without Nick Saban and with Kalen DeBoer as head coach. And we already saw last year USF is capable of competing with the Crimson Tide.
But considering how Alabama decisively beat Western Kentucky 63-0 a week ago, it seems the Crimson Tide have already found their footing.
USF is one of my favorite G5 teams this season, though, which is why I think the Bulls can keep this to a two-touchdown contest. Byrum Brown is a great dual-threat quarterback and has plenty of standout skill players to rely on. USF’s defense is also pretty solid, which is why I don’t think this game hits the Over.
But it’s just tough for me to think Alabama is going to lose at home in this one.
