65: Colby Sorsdal, OL (Sr.) — William & Mary
William & Mary is a program rising back up under head coach Mike London, finishing last season with its first winning record since 2015. The Tribe went 6-5 overall, 6-4 against FCS opponents, and 4-4 in the CAA. They are doing it with good defense and a strong rushing attack. The Tribe ranked No. 17 in FCS rushing offense (205.3 YPG) last year and No. 26 in scoring defense (22.1 PPG).
A consistent presence on the offensive line for multiple seasons to help establish the run is Colby Sorsdal.
Sorsdal has been in the starting lineup since 2018 when he was the second W&M true freshman to start on the o-line since 1983. He started in 10 games in 2019 and all three games in the 2021 spring at right tackle.
The 6-foot-6, 300-pounder started another 10 games last fall as W&M led the CAA in rushing. Sorsdal’s progression as a standout offensive lineman was recognized with his All-Conference Third Team honors.
“He is unbelievably athletic for an offensive lineman,” head coach Mike London said. “He’s played against all caliber of talent, FBS and FCS, and he’s graded out consistently well. He’s an NFL-type talent. He’s the complete package for what they’re looking for. A smart guy, a tough guy, who loves football. He has the measurables and is a leader on and off the field.”
That leadership resulted in Sorsdal being named a captain heading into 2022. The Tribe expects to be in the playoff mix this season after being left on the bubble last fall thanks to three straight losses to end the year, including a 10-point loss to No. 2 James Madison and a three-point loss to Richmond.
