Cheek, who was named the CAA Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2017 and was a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award, posted fantastic numbers in his freshman outing. Cheek completed 190 passes for 2,431 passing yards and 15 touchdowns. He also had two rushing touchdowns.

This season, Cheek had already posted 1,000 yards passing and five total touchdowns before collapsing in the first quarter of last Saturday's game at Delaware. Backup quarterback Jalen Greene played the remainder of the game, passing for 140 yards and rushing for another 36.
Full faith in @_JGreene4 and the rest of the team! They’ve done nothing but help me out and it’s time I return the favor

Thanks to Elon's titanic win at JMU, the Phoenix (4-2) still have a great shot to make the playoffs as a seven-win team. Greene, who will serve as Elon's starting quarterback for the remainder of the year, must guide his team to three more wins to give the Phoenix a realistic shot at a playoff berth.
Elon's remaining games? Richmond (10/20), Rhode Island (11/3), Towson (11/10), at Maine (11/17).
