There's a reason replay review exists for targeting calls. On-field targeting is an extremely difficult call to make in real time, and officials will often miss targeting or throw the flag for a legal hit. That's why replay exists. The big problem: Replay isn't working.
Last week, the MAC admitted an error during the Northern Illinois–Akron game on Thursday night. After review, Huskies' defensive lineman Quintin Wynne was ejected, though his hit was legal. Why can't the next-day "thorough review" be conducted during the game? Wynne isn't forced to sit out the first half of the next game but he still missed more than 20 minutes of game time in the Week 10 game.
