When K.D. Humphries leaves Murray State after finishing his senior season, he’ll do so as the most prolific passer in school history.
This season Humphries has racked up 3,116 passing yards, bringing his four-year total to an astounding 10,458 career passing yards. His 23 touchdowns in 2016 bring his career total to 73, against 30 career interceptions.
Humphries will leave college one of two players in Ohio Valley Conference history to pass for more than 10,000 yards in their collegiate careers, joining former Eastern Illinois and current New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in completing the feat.
Humphries’ senior season is a microcosm of his career at Murray State, an accurate portrayal of his time as the team’s starting quarterback.
His 3,116 yards this season rank sixth in the FCS, and his 311.6 yards per game is the fourth-best mark in all of FCS play. He sits 15th among FCS quarterbacks after completing 64 percent of his passes this season.
Highlights from the 2016 season include a 455-yard, five-touchdown, one-interception performance in a 45-17 win over Austin Peay and a 398-yard, five-touchdown showing en route to a 38-31 victory over Tennessee State.
Humphries’ collegiate body of work is impressive, but his 2016 season alone is worthy of inclusion in this top-10 list.
