Weber State: Cory Thomson, RB/ST
Cory Thomson is Weber State's top kick returner (Weber State Athletics).
If there's an unsung phase of the game, it's special teams. But Cory Thomson is hard not to notice, and coach Jay Hill thinks he deserves recognition. He said, "One of our unsung heroes is Cory Thomson. Cory came to Weber State as a transfer two years ago and has earned a scholarship with us this year. He's a guy that loves football and works hard all the time in practice and games. He started playing football in Canada and transferred here where he's been a big part of our team. He plays running back and is on special teams and is a key player for us on both. He does everything the right way and does whatever he is asked and is a very valuable part of our team."
Thomson is also a big contributor on offense, and won an Honorable Mention award for All-Big Sky last season. This year he has been playing at full back and has three touchdowns near the goal line while also serving as the team's top kick returner.
Speaking of unsung heroes, Weber State's Sports Information Director Paul Grua revealed that Coach Hill won the national unsung hero award from the National Football Foundation as a senior when he played at the University of Utah.
