Northern Illinois shocked the college football world when the Huskies went on the road and defeated No. 5-ranked Notre Dame 16-14 a couple weeks ago.
Now NIU finds itself ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press Top 25. The question for the Huskies will be can they continue winning as they begin their MAC schedule.
NIU will take on NC State next week, but the team will first go up against Buffalo this week.

The game will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 21. The contest is taking place at Huskie Stadium in Dekalb, Illinois.

Buffalo vs. NIU Prediction
I predict NIU will win and cover the spread at -14. I also project the game will go Over 43.5 total points.
I don’t think Buffalo is a bad team. The Bulls are coming off a 34-3 win over UMass last week and is 2-1 overall right now after losing to Missouri 38-0.
But there’s a few reasons I think NIU can win by more than a couple touchdowns here. For starters, the Huskies have had a week off to collect themselves after their monumental victory over Notre Dame and to plan for their next opponent. They also get to play at home.
And while the Notre Dame game didn’t feature a ton of scoring, NIU did prove in Week 1 that it can put up some points in a 54-15 win over Western Illinois.
I think NIU’s defense will be stout once again and that the Huskies will score about 35 points against Buffalo in a victory.
