Boise State has been dominant in the Mountain West, especially recently. The Broncos won the conference title each of the last three years, making the College Football Playoff in 2024.
But now the MWC is going to look a lot different with Boise State, San Diego State, Colorado State, Utah State, and Fresno State going to the Pac-12. And that opens the door for others to win the league.

Who’s The Favorite To Win The Mountain West?
New Mexico is the college football betting odds favorite to win the Mountain West title this season at +220. UNLV, Hawaii, and Air Force are some of the other favorites.
Mountain West Championship Prediction & Analysis
I predict UNLV will win the Mountain West in 2026.
The Rebels have been so close the past few years, and now with Boise State out of the equation, I think they finally win the league this year. New Mexico and Hawaii of course have to be in this discussion as well as both teams return great head coaches and quarterbacks.
One team to keep an eye on that’s not even eligible for the postseason as of now: North Dakota State. The Bison are making the jump up to the FBS this year, but they can’t participate in the postseason like the MWC Championship unless NCAA rules are overturned – and there’s a possibility of that happening before the season begins. If the Bison do end up being eligible to compete for the league title, I could see them being a top-three favorite.
