New Mexico State emerged as one of the top Group of Five teams in the country after defeating Auburn just a few weeks ago. In fact, the Aggies have only lost once – the Conference USA Championship against Liberty – since September.
That led to the Aggies (10-4) earning a spot in the New Mexico Bowl against Fresno State, which also has an impressive resume. The Bulldogs won two Power Five games this year, though they will be without head coach Jeff Tedford for their bowl game due to health concerns.

NMSU is a -3.5 college football betting odds favorite against Fresno State, with the Over/Under being 51.5.
The moneyline for the Aggies is -175, while it’s +145 for Fresno State.

The NMSU-Fresno State matchup in the New Mexico Bowl will be televised on ESPN.
The game will take place at 5:45 p.m. ET on Saturday, Dec. 16, at University Stadium in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

I’m picking New Mexico State to win and cover the spread at -3.5. I also am predicting the game will go Under 51.5 total points.
NMSU was on a roll before the CUSA title game. The Aggies’ defense was especially astounding, as they had allowed more than 24 points just twice since Sept. 9.
Fresno State’s defense is also strong, which is why I think this will be a low-scoring tilt. However, I think the Aggies will control the game on the ground and pull off a victory in their home state.
