Whenever quarterbacks thought they had enough time or space to complete a pass against Zah Frazier this past season, they were often wrong.
During an AAC clash between East Carolina and UTSA this past season, ECU had the ball on its own 25-yard line. Frazier, UTSA’s star cornerback, was lined up one-on-one with wide receiver Chase Sowell.
Frazier gave his opponent plenty of cushion, about eight yards, at the snap. That made ECU quarterback Jake Garcia believe he could deliver the ball to his receiver, who was running a six-yard out route, almost immediately after he caught the shotgun snap.
But that didn’t go as planned. Instead, as soon as the pass was in the air, Frazier closed the space instantly and intercepted the throw. And despite Sowell fighting for the ball and pushing Frazier toward the sideline, the Roadrunners defender kept his feet in bounds for the pick.
Frazier was one of the most productive cornerbacks in the country in 2024. And that has led to him receiving serious draft consideration.
Zah Frazier NFL Mock Draft Projection In 2025
I project Zah Frazier will go in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
A mid-round pick is not out of the question for a player who was second in the country in interceptions this past year. I would project him to go even higher if it weren’t for his age.
But he was one of the fastest players at the combine, which is impressive considering he’s a taller corner, and his performance last season proves he has the potential to become a starter in the NFL at some point.
What Was Zah Frazier’s 40 Time At The NFL Combine?
Zah Frazier ran the 40-yard dash in 4.36 seconds at the 2025 NFL Combine. That was fifth among 24 cornerbacks and 10th among all players who participated.
Frazier also ran the three-cone drill in 7.0 seconds, which was second among three corners, and performed the 20-yard shuttle in 4.26 seconds, which was third among four at his position group.
He also was seventh among 22 corners with a 36.5-inch vertical jump and eighth among 21 players in his position group with a broad jump of 10 feet, 6 inches.
Zah Frazier’s Height & Weight
Zah Frazier was measured at 6-foot-3, 186 pounds at the NFL Combine.
Zah Frazier’s Age
Zah Frazier is 24 years old. He was born on Oct. 5, 2000, so he will turn 25 during the upcoming football season.
Zah Frazier’s Stats & Highlights
Frazier has made a meteoric rise over the last 12 months after a record-breaking year.
He was an All-AAC first-teamer after a superb 2024 season in which he set UTSA’s single-season record with six interceptions, which was second among all players in the FBS.
For the year, he added nine pass breakups, 15 passes defended, 24 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and a forced fumble.
Before this past season, Frazier hadn’t started a game for the Roadrunners. He played in five contests in 2023, totaling three tackles and one pass defended. The year before, he appeared in 12 games and recorded seven tackles.
He went to UTSA after earning JUCO All-American accolades at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas. He was the No. 3 JUCO recruit in the country, per Rivals. In 2021, he was 10th in the nation with 11 pass breakups while tallying 26 tackles, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. The season before, he totaled three picks, nine tackles, and two PBUs en route to being named a second-team all-conference selection.
Frazier, who’s from Cedartown, Georgia, began his collegiate career at Southern Illinois where he played in four games in 2019.

Zah Frazier’s NFL Comparison & 2025 NFL Draft Profile
I believe some elements of Zah Frazier’s game are comparable to Nnamdi Asomugha. I’m not saying Frazier will play at the same level as Asomugha in the NFL, but Asomugha was also a taller corner at 6-foot-2 who obviously had outstanding athleticism and ball skills.
Among FBS players who were on the field for at least 480 snaps in 2024, Frazier was 13th in Pro Football Focus’ overall grades. He was also first for pass rushing, 23rd for run defense, 26th for coverage, and 30th for tackling.
Frazier appears calm and collected when the ball is in the air and he’s battling for position. He often keeps his eyes in the backfield, and obviously made plays on the ball at a high rate.
Frazier, who committed just two penalties in 2024, allowed 18 catches for 246 yards, 57 yards after catch, and one touchdown on 39 targets. That allowed catch rate of 46.2% was 28th in the FBS.
Throws his way resulted in an NFL passer rating of 35.8. That was fifth in the country.
Frazier’s height and speed are obviously going to be one of the first things people talk about if he gets drafted. But he brings so much more to the table.
For example, he’s a solid tackler. Frazier was in the top 25, per PFF, with a 6.5% missed tackle rate.
Frazier will likely be best suited in a zone scheme. But no matter what defense he plays in, I believe he has a good chance of earning a starting role for a pro franchise.
