Eastern Washington has the top passing attack in the country this season (406.8 yards per game) thanks to receivers like Cooper Kupp, Shaq Hill and Kendrick Bourne, but the man responsible for delivering the ball is Gage Gubrud.
Gubrud averaged 370.1 yards per game on his way to a 4,071-yard performance during the 2016 season, the third highest total and second-highest yard per game average this year in FCS play.
He’s one of just two players to throw 40 touchdowns in FCS play this season, and with only 11 interceptions to his name also owns the fourth-best efficiency rating in the country at 170.5.
Gubrud has five 400-yard passing games this season, including a 520-yard performance in a 41-17 win over Montana State. He has four 4-touchdown games, two 5-touchdown games and a six-touchdown performance to his name this season alone.
In Eastern Washington’s pass-happy attack, Gubrud is also the team’s leading rusher, with 107 carries for 463 yards. He’s second on the team with four rushing touchdowns.
Eastern Washington earned a two-seed in the FCS playoffs because of the Eagles’ impressive pass attack — an offense skillfully run by Gubrud.
