YOU MISS EVERY SHOT YOU DON'T TAKE
Greenville needed overtime and a half-court buzzer beater that made ESPN to beat Eureka 145-142 this week.
But in all the excitement over Kenny Greene's half-court jumper as time expired, you may have overlooked the other incredible thing about this game – Greenville took 119 shots, the most field goal attempts by a team in a game involving two D3 teams this season.
The Panthers were 54-for-119 from the field, and 14-54 from 3-point range – yeah, you read that right, they threw up 54 treys – while going 23 for 35 from the line as they improved to 11-3 overall on the season and 5-2 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Greenville was just doing what they do – they just did it a few more times. They lead the nation in 3-point attempts, being the only team in D3 that's taken over 700 from beyond the arc this year. The Panthers are scoring a best-in-the-nation 132.9 points per game.
